• Location: Appin Rd, Bonshaw. Peter and June Hicks say: "It has been a landmark for generations in Appin Road. The tree is special because of its sources. Tom Inman, oldest brother of my (Peter's) great grandmother,Margaret Inman who married Donald Gordon of Appin Road moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba and send the seeds back to his brothers and sisters to remember him by. The seed was started in the house for a number of years and approximately ninety five years ago was planted outside at its present location. A number of these seeds were sent as well to brothers and sisters who lived on Russell Street in Victoria. They included artist, Lidy Inman. Tom became quite wealthy and upon his death provided funding for the public library in Winnipeg, Parklands and other charities. Therefore this is so special as a tribute to Tom Inman and a Western Canadian and Maritime connection." width:431;;height:540

He told my father the tree was over the house(previous house was a low 2 story) when he came home from WW1. As a child I swung on this tree when it would rain for a long time before the rain could get through all the foliage.
When I had my daycare there many community children tried to touch the branches, just as I had when my father pushed me.
When I got married I had a picture taken of me swinging in my wedding dress.
My 2 sons swing on the regular swing & a tire swing they put up. Anyone with children visiting knows to look for the kids under the tree.
My father says the only place to be on a hot day is under the tree while the breezed blows & the leaves shade you.
This tree has grown with 4 generations of my family & I hope to swing my grandchildren on it someday." width:405;;height:540
